Taking the elevator apart

This blind rivet removal tool works great. I had to remove the root ribs. This tool holds the rivet head and drills out the middle. Highly recommend.

Back in the shop

Cleaned up the garage and started to figure out where I left everything.

Made room in the garage

Engine came home this weekend. Ready to put mount on and see how it looks.

Elevator getting closer

Did a little fit up tonight. Elevator should be lined up soon. Then in to mounting the vertical stabilizer.

More tail work

Made the trim tab with my lady.

Rudder test fit

I think it might work.

Rudder a second time

I messed up the first rudder I made by trying to make out better after it was formed. I ended up putting a bunch of hammer marks along the edge so I decided to make anther one. This one turned out pretty good. It’s amazing what a little bit of build time will do to the quality of parts made.

Working on controls

Made the elevator push rod today. Also installed the supports that guide it through the fuselage. Decided to remake a cross support that had a wrinkle in it.

I will take the push rod out tomorrow to paint it.

Back in the garage

It had been some time.

Glare shield

Working on making a curved glare shield.  I think I’m going to use the original shield and add a curve over the top. 

Still working on getting this end down tight.
